Post Exclusions

Post Exclusions lets you determine which content is visible on specific clones.

This allows you to, for example:

  • hide products from certain countries;
  • show blog articles on specific clones only;
  • exclude landing pages for certain markets;
  • manage custom post types per clone.

The functionality works for all supported post types that are configured within the plugin.

Supported post types

On the settings page you can indicate which post types the Post Exclusions functionality should be available for.

Common examples are:

  • Products
  • Pages
  • Posts
  • Portfolio items
  • Custom post types from plugins or themes

As soon as a post type is enabled, the Post Exclusions options become available within WordPress.

How do Post Exclusions work?

For every clone you can determine whether an item may be visible.

When an item is excluded for a clone:

  • it does not appear in overviews;
  • it does not appear in search results;
  • it cannot be visited directly;
  • it does continue to exist within WordPress.

So the original content is never deleted or modified.

Excluding content

Once a post type is enabled, additional Clonable settings appear within WordPress.

There you can indicate per clone whether an item should be visible.

Example

ContentNetherlandsGermanyFrance
Product A✓✓✗
Product B✓✗✓
Blog article C✓✓✗

In the example above:

  • Product A is not visible on the French clone.
  • Product B is not visible on the German clone.
  • Blog article C is not visible on the French clone.

Use cases

Managing products per country

Not every product may be sold in every country.

Post Exclusions lets you hide products from specific clones without making changes to the original webshop.

Local campaigns

Some landing pages are only relevant to a particular market.

Post Exclusions lets you limit these pages to the right clones.

Blog content per market

Not all content needs to be available in every language or market.

Post Exclusions lets you determine which articles are visible on which clones.

What happens to existing content?

When you exclude an item:

  • the item continues to exist in WordPress;
  • the item remains editable;
  • no data is deleted;
  • only its visibility on clones is adjusted.

Frequently asked questions

Is content deleted?

No.

Post Exclusions only affects the visibility of content on clones.

The original content is always retained.

Can I exclude products?

Yes.

WooCommerce products are one of the most common applications of Post Exclusions.

Does this also work for custom post types?

Yes.

Any supported post type that has been configured within the settings can make use of Post Exclusions.

Can I make an item visible on just one clone?

Yes.

You can determine per clone whether content should be visible or hidden.

That way you can show content on one specific clone while hiding it on all other clones.
